Has anyone who has ever researched the series of "Toto Yukimi Hakkei" published by Shottaro Sato in 1928 and Unsodo in 1946 and 1948 found that Emile Javal II is son of Louis Emile Javal who used Japanese woodblock prints in black and white in his research of eye movement and reading? I have found S.Bing,Charles Vignier and Emile Javal,II on the same page. That S.Bing came to Paris in 1888. C.Vignier tied closely to Javal in 1928,and him as a publisher of Hiroshige works, even the Hirosghe portrait by Kunisada and the 1914 Paris show. However I find the first mention of a Javal Japanese Collection being in 1883,5 years before Bing arrived. All else failing, does anyone have a contact in Paris? Please post it here or to fwmccord at yahoo. On a lighter note is Camile Javal, or B.B., his grand-daughter?
