John, www.artgallery.sbc.edu/ukiyoe
is my only point of reference.

: I thought we had figured this one out back in 1991. In my opinion your print is by Hiroshige II. It is a pastiche of 2 of the 3 figures, as well as a derivation of the landscape, from his master's (Hiroshige I) scene of Ochanomizu in the series 'Edo meisho', issued in horizontal format in 1853. Thus your print postdates Hiroshige I's 'Edo meisho' series and most likely appeared after Hiroshige I's death. Based on the drawing style and the design of the cartouche, it was probably published circa early 1860s, perhaps around the time of Hiroshige II's series 'Sumida hakkei' in 1861.

: John
