Hello,
There are many great collections of Japanese prints in America, but most are very careful about putting prints on display for too long a period of time, due to fading concerns. You may have to contact the museum to see what they are showing at a given time, or to ask permission to be shown prints individually (museums will arrange this if you have a special interest.)
America has some of the best collections in the world. Boston and Chicago are first rate, the very best in the world, followed by New York. Philadelphia, San Francisco, Kansas City and Washington D.C. also have fine collections. Many university museums have substantial collections of prints as well, and are usually very helpful to those with an interest.
: I'm on the west coast (US) but travel often to other major cities. I'd like to visit some museums with japanese woodblock print collections, but can't seem to find specific museums that have noteworthy permanent collections. Any suggestions?
: thanks, s
