I visit the Sachler and Freer museums in whenever I visit Washington DC and was awarded this January with the best displays on Japanese Prints and ukiyoe paintings that I've yet seen so I thought I should mention it since the Freer display might still be up. I'd call ahead as Andy suggested.

I was particularly astonished by an Utamaro I painting that filled a large wall in one of the rooms of the Freer (I'd guess, about 10 x 25 feet). The Sackler recently gained the Anne van Biema Collection part of which was on display for about 6 months through mid-January. Anne was a founder of The Ukiyoe Society of America which has a website and keeps subscribing members aware of upcoming museum shows.
