Re: Information material on the exhibition and catalogue Images of Spring Italy 2003
To whom it may concern
ICSAA (International Center for Studies in Anthropology of Art) recently opened in Cagliari, Sardinia (Italy), an exhibition of shunga entitled Images of Spring. Eroticism and beauty in the prints of Tokugawa Japan. The exposition, which displays fifteen original prints (true masterpieces of the genre from private Italian and international collections) and four multivision sequences with 73 images, will be open to the public until September 14,2003. The catalogue of the showing, edited by Punto A Publishing of Cagliari, presents the reproduction of a selection of works, and is completed by a set of introductive essays in Italian with abstracts in English (full translation of the catalogue in the English language will be available by the end of 2003), dealing with the theme of erotic painting in its ethic and aesthetic motivations, not to mention the necessary Japanese historical and cultural references. Exhibition and catalogue are by Professor Marco Fagioli, on whose advice we have the pleasure to send you some literature on the subject, and by Dr. Bianca Laura Petretto. Should you be interested on kindly publishing a review on this venue, or else in the distribution of our catalogue, we would be grateful if you please let us know timing, ways and terms for the
best possible agreements to our editorial office. In the meantime please browse our www.icsaa.it web site. Additionally we would like to send, providing an e-mail address: our press folder and catalogue cover page, . A copy of our catalogue Italian-English may be available on request. We remain at your disposal for any further material and images you may like to receive.
Yours sincerely,
The editorial office
