I have recently gone through my grandfather's things and came accross two (prints?) but the strange thing is that they are obvious reproductions on some very strange thick paper. I am assuming it is rice paper but it is as thick as shoji paper. There is also a yellowish background to them (part of the print). No bleed on the back so I have no clue what their purpose was. It appears that at some point they were folded but right now they are flat. I am familiar with the Kiyonaga (Three Beauties in the Rain) but not sure on the Utamaro of two folks (one woman and I think a boy) playing chioroku with another standing woman looking on. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew the origin of this kind of print? My grandfather spent some time in Japan visiting my other grandparents and there are several other prints that I recocognize and can tell pretty clearly whether they are real prints or not. These, I have no idea.
