Click here for a high-res (about 800K bytes) picture of carpenters in action. It is from the 1905 woodblock printed crepe-paper book "Japanese Pictures of Japanese Life" published by Takejiro Hasegawa and is a double-page spread. The artist who designed the pictures in this book was Arai Yoshimune.
