: I was wondering if anyone has information regarding
: how Japanese prints are traditionally framed.
: Is a particular width preferred for the matt?
: Is a certain color or width generally used for the frame?
: Any information you have to share would be greatly appreciated.

: I am a novice and have only recently (past year) began acquiring and framing Japanese prints. I have them framed professionally because I feel that this is the best way to protect them. My framer uses strictly UV Glass, museum and archival grade materials. If the size and condition of the print allows I have it "float mounted" with a non-acid specially prepared adhesive. This permits the entire print to be viewed from edge to edge without "capturing" it under a matte. I display these prints only in subdued light and never allow them to be moved into bright light.
