Dear Nils U. Bosshard,
Perhaps your print is from the series: Mitate Sanjurok'kasen No Uchi = "comparison with (or parodies on) the thirty-six poets, compiled".
I have a print from this series and so does a friend of mine. We both found a fair amount of data about the series and the prints. The date of most (if not all) of the prints is indeed 1852 (year of the rat). But I am a bit confused by the fact that your print depicts two persons (actors?) while all other prints I know show only single bust-portrets of famous actors in comparison to 'something', accompanied by a short poem. Also the addition 'Hitsu' instead of 'Ga' is new to me.
If you want to know more about my findings then follow this link:
Mitate series
I'll leave this page here for a while. If you have some aditional information yourself, please send it to me or post it in this newsgroup. I would be delighted if you'ld post an image of your print.
Yours truly, Theo de Kreijger
