I have a print by Kunisada showing the actor Bando Mitsugoro in a mirror. The same print (with a slightly different color scheme) is reproduced in Shigero Shindo's book "Kunisada - The Kabuki Actor Portraits" on page 83, and dated 1829.
The title of the print shown in the book is "Bando Minosuke" and the remark is given: "There is a place where the characters for Minosuke were scraped off and replaced with Mitsugoro".
Can anyone tell me why this; did the actor change his name? And if so, at what time?
