: Anne: I'm interersted to see anny feedback you
: receive from your posting. I found some old prints
: or reprints in a garage some years back in San Francisco
: , some of which had portions sliced off for some
: myterious reason.
I figure that mine might have been trimmed
because of water damage or fraying to the edges. Maybe it
was sitting in a pile of old prints in someone's house in
the 20's or 30's, and someone came along and said, "Hey,
let's trim off the bad parts, glue it down to another,
larger, sheet of paper, glue some silk fabric next to the edge
of the print to even out the dimensions, and sell it to tourists!"
At least that is my theory. I really would like to get the print
off the backing paper because I know it is burning it. But I
don't know if it is possible.
.
: Any info you can share would be greatly appreciated.
I will let you know.
: I'm trying to figure out this contraption (computer-scanner setup)
: sufficiently so that I can send copies of the prints
: as 'attachments' tp email to interested parties.
: JPG files? Right?
Yes it would be JPG or JPEG files. I also plan to get my
prints scanned so that it will make it easier for people
to give me opinions.
: $6.00 for two prints? Rub marks on the backs of
: the prints? What do you take to help you sleep at night?
LOL, well it is not like I bought the genuine Mona Lisa
from the people. I suspect there was a lot more at this
sale that was valuable, but I am not knowledgeable enough
about Japanese and Chinese pottery, china, and silver, to
be a good judge. I also bought a little wood thing
with carved dragons on it for 50 cents, just because I
liked it. It is not a traditional netsuke (besides it looks
Chinese not Japanese), but I do think it is some kind of
clothes fastener. Another mystery.
Good luck with your prints
Ann
