There's a couple of good places to get some general information that should help in your beginnings.

Tokugawa gallery has a nice chart of print sizes, and showing how they changed throughout ukiyo-e history. It's at: http://www.tokugawagallery.com/sizes.hmtl You can print it out for your file.

Another place with good info is a list of Ukiyo-e related terms on the Akitsu Gallery site. http://akitsugallery.com/reference/ukiyoegloss.htm. A warning here, though. You have to print it out with the best possible setting your printer has (if you have a choice). It comes out grey, and at an Econofast setting on an HP, you don't get much. But at best it is quite readable.
