I have recently inherited a print owned by my grandmother who lived in Japan at the beginning of the century. On the back of the framing she has written "Hiroshige-53 views of the Tokaido. Kanagawa (?)" The piece has no signature in the bottom left corner as I've read the artist's signature would be. It does have a very tiny pencilled number on the right edge (14691). It also has a rectangular seal at the top with many characters and on the upper right edge a round seal below a line of three characters. The scene has a large and small mountain in the background, a rest station with a procession leaving. A horse is tied to the front post and blue and red banners fly to the left of the station on two lines. The figures are dressed for warm weather. I am looking for guidance and information about this print.
