I have just acquired a Toyokuni print; actually I have two, and I suspect they are two parts of a tryptic. On one panel two elaborately dressed men, perhaps Samurai, are looking down at various items on a floor. They look like manuscripts that are tied up. Both carry fans. Behind them is an elaborately decorated box that is very large. Behind it is a window looking out on water, with trees on the horizon. The other print appears to be in the same room. A man, also beautifully dressed, holds a fan in his right hand. He wears a sword on his right side and a long black robe. To his right kneels a woman, who is holding a sword. Both gaze toward the floor.
I would like to know more about these prints. Is anyone familiar with them?
