Think about this:
Kabuki and Greenhouses were depicted in Ukiyo-E. The most popular media showing women from the Greenhouses and the Kabuki actors were prints from Kunisada's studio (and his pupils).
Popmusic artists still are depicted in popclips. The most popular medium for pop-clips is MTV.
Kunisada and MTV might be related. I think that the development of Ukiyo-E and Popclips has similarities.
