: Think about this:

: Kabuki and Greenhouses were depicted in Ukiyo-E. The most popular media showing women from the Greenhouses and the Kabuki actors were prints from Kunisada's studio (and his pupils).

: Popmusic artists still are depicted in popclips. The most popular medium for pop-clips is MTV.

: Kunisada and MTV might be related. I think that the development of Ukiyo-E and Popclips has similarities.

: What do you think??? Please react!

: Yours Truly, Theo de Kreijger.

An interesting idea! Speaking as one who was a teenager when MTV started,
one can extend your analogy to the evolution of MTV and Ukiyo-e. When it started MTV
was a way for band to advertise their music. Rather quickly, music videos became art forms
in and of themselves. Like Ukiyo-e music videos evolved rather rapidly in very complicated and
often bizarre images. Indeed, I no longer watch MTV because the form has moved so far from its
beginnings that I no longer find it interesting.
