Dear Geo and John,

I always wondered about this myself. Perhaps I might also add some mystery to be solved.

I have seen several triptychs which had at least two different "go" names put on the seperate pages. This suggests that Kunisada used these "go" not only to seperate different periods in his carrier. Perhaps it has something to do with his apprentices which finished his designes, before they went to the publisher. It is commonly known that Kunisada designed so much prints that a large amount must have been completed by apprentices like Kunichika and such before they became independed artists.

Regards, Theo
