I recently purchased a print by Masao Ido and a copy of a book published on his work, entitled "A Poem of Printing---The Wood block Prints of Masao Ido. The book was published in 1988 and covers his work prior to this time. The print i purchased is not included in the book, however two very similar prints are. They are entitled "Toriimoto: Teahouse Hiranoya" and "Toriimoto in the evening".The print has the number 90 written in the middle of the margin, as a consequence i am assuming that the print was made in 1990. The print is numbered 23/120. the image is very similar to the two contained in the book, minor differences and content are all that are different. I am assuming that the print was made at a different time of day when the screens were changed. I know very little of this artist and would be interested to know more.

I know that the artist was born in China in 1945 and returned to Japan in 1946 to live in Morioka city.Since then he has worked with Kohho Yoshida and Shigechika Ohtsubo after he moved to Kyoto.

Thank You.

Andrew Mcgonigle.
