Removing creases

Does anyone know how to remove minor creases?
I recently bought a woodblock print by a young Japanese artist done on Japanese paper. The problem is that the gallery sent the print to me wrapped in thin tissue-like (glassine?) paper sandwiched between 2 cardboard sheets that were just barely larger than the print. This resulted in some minor creases on the upper left edge of the sheet. While the creases would disappear under a mat when framed, it would show if I decide to frame it "floating" over the mat to show the natural edges of the washi.
The option of exchanging the print for another in the edition is not available, since there are only 3 pieces of this (AP, 1/2, 2/2), and I bought the last one.
Is there a safe and easy way for me to remove the crease? Somebody, help!
