Willy Seiler lived in Karuizawa in the "occupation era" when I visited him. He did some woodblocks but seemed to be overshadowed by Jacoulet, another expatriate neighbor.

In addition to prints, he made some fascinating folk dolls, sort of a "Raggedy Ann" version in cloth and straw of Hakata dolls. They were sold in craft shops and in some PX stores. My wife and I have some which we treasure.
