"Suzukawa" was first printed in 1935, it is no. 205 in the book THE COMPLETE WOODBLOCK PRINTS OF HIROSHI YOSHIDA. The illustration in the book does not have a box around the jizuri seal though part of the jizuri seal itself resembles a box.
I have seen a few other prints by Hiroshi Yoshida with strange markings on them, one of which was a display type print that presumably a salesperson was taking around originally as a sales sample, but of course after Yoshida's prints gained popularity, it was being sold as a regular print, with this marking having been partially rubbed out. Whether the print you mention was anything like that, I don't know.
: For Christmas I gave my brother a print by Hiroshi Yoshida entitled Suzukawa. It is signed and titled in pencil. My brother says the jizuri seal is 'in a box' and was unsure of its status as an original or perhaps part of the commemorative series of prints. I don't have immediate access to the book of Yoshida's work and wondered if someone did, could they tell me when this print was first issued and was it also issued as a commemorative print and what significance does a "box" around the jizuri seal have?
