: No, I do not think that scanning could be hazardous to your health, but the thought did cross my mind that the bright light, although of brief duration, might possibly fade the fragile pigments of a Japanese print. Any thoughts?
I like to think that once or twice won't make a difference.
I know print dealers who don't give a second thought to running a
rare $50,000 print through a color copier to offer the image
to a client. In our modern age, it is all a part of the art
business. It allows me, as a print dealer, to do business with a broader client
base and allows a collector access to a larger selection of prints.
I do not perceive any change in the print, but that does not
mean that it hasn't changed. It concerns me.
